1. New York Sportsmen Show, Nassau Coliseum Jan. 30th

Plugging the Suds

I will be speaking at 10am on plugging the Surf. We will discuss the how when where and why of as many plugs as I can cover in the time given. I also discuss the best rods and reels that will be most efficient for our plug of choice.

 Sunday Feb. 7th 11:00 - 12:00 - Targeting Trophy Bass Montauk Surf

This will be a good lecture for the more experiences caster looking to hunt some large in the Montauk suds. I will discuss equipment, terminal tackle, winds, tides, bait migrations, plug presentation, and best times to target trophy stripers as related to (2010) moons.

28th ANNUAL SPORTFISHING FORUM & AUCTION

4. SURF DAY

Feb. 20th

I’ll be on hand in New Jersey with a booth and a lecture.

Besides August, spring is the most underrated and under fished time of the year. We will discuss Moons, bait migrations, presentations as related to the upcoming season. I will squeeze as much as I can in. After words come to my booth and we can continue our discussion!

7. FREE Lecture at the Wantagh Library

April 1st 6:30pm

READING WATER

One of the best tools you can have for surfcasting is the ability to read structure. For this discussion I will present various types of structure: drains, bars, points troughs, bridges, rocky areas, and whatever else time allows for. We will break it down and discuss the most effective way to fish it as related to bait, water temps, time of year, and moon. The best choice of rod, reel, terminal tackle, and lure selection will also be addressed.  

LOCATION: Wantagh library, Wantagh NY. -- Take Southern State Parkway to Wantagh Ave south. Make a right on Park Ave, just before the train trestle. Library is a block down on your right hand side. Library phone # is 516-221-1200. See ya there!

8. NFSS Surf Fishing Seminar w/ John Skinner and Bill Wetzel

Where: The Town Hall Annex Bldg in the Town of Babylon, 281 Phelps Lane , North Babylon, NY 11703

When: Saturday, April 10th from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (Doors will open at 8:30 am - coffee and donuts will be ready to go!)

Cost: $10 (this admission fee will include coffee and donuts and a raffle ticket for Lou's custom made Lamiglas GSB 1081M surf rod and possibly more).

Casting/Landing fish

We will cover the most efficient way to cast spinning gear from the surf. Proper foot placement, hand placement loading the rod, finger placement, and choosing the right rod for the job will be among topics addressed. I will also go over landing and handling fish from the sand and a rocky perch.
